Expert Sump Pump Installation in Philadelphia, PA

Sump pump installation is one of the most practical steps a Philadelphia homeowner can take to protect their property. Philadelphia averages 40 inches of rain and over 20 inches of snow each year, with the heaviest rainfall hitting between May and August. That steady moisture load puts below-grade spaces at real risk. Many Philadelphia homes are older row homes with stone or brick foundations, which are more porous than poured concrete and allow groundwater to seep in more easily. A proper installation starts with locating the right spot for the sump pit at the lowest point of the basement or crawl space. From there, we set the pit, place the pump, route the discharge line away from the foundation, and confirm the float switch activates correctly. We also assess whether a battery backup is appropriate, since power outages often happen during the same storms that push water into your basement. Call Drain State Plumbing & Drain Cleaning to schedule your sump pump installation in Philadelphia today.

Sump Pump Installation FAQ

Common questions about sump pump installation in Philadelphia, PA.

Yes, Philadelphia basements below grade in areas with poor drainage can benefit from a sump pump even before flooding occurs. Groundwater levels can rise quickly after heavy rain, and early signs like damp walls or a musty smell often appear long before standing water does.

The discharge line routes water away from your foundation to a safe drainage point outside, such as a storm drain or dry well. Discharge routing on tight urban lots in Philadelphia requires careful planning to avoid sending water back toward the home or a neighbor's property.

Yes, we install sump pumps in older Philadelphia homes with stone and brick foundations. These foundation types require additional prep work before the sump pit is set, and we account for that during the assessment.

A standard sump pump stops working when power goes out, which is a problem because outages often happen during the same storms that push water into your basement. A battery backup pump keeps the system running when grid power is lost.

Yes, Philadelphia requires that sump pump installation work be performed by a licensed master plumber to meet city code. Drain State Plumbing & Drain Cleaning handles the installation to meet those local requirements.

Common signs include loud or unusual noise during operation, the pump running constantly, or water remaining in the pit after a storm. If your Philadelphia basement has shown new dampness or the pump is several years old, a professional inspection can confirm whether replacement is needed.

In these days I appreciate a company that answers the phone and communicates when they're running behind schedule for an appt. George came out, assessed what needed to be done, reasonable price agreed upon, and returned same day with his team to repair two gas fuel line leaks. They put in the extra time to get it done properly, so my gas could be turned back on by PGW. Continued blessings. Thank you

This is the 2nd time i've hired them and I couldn't be happier. Both times for major issues. They are polite, respectful and do a wonderful job. I couldn't be happier. I will continue to hire them for all my plumbing issues.

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ George and his partner were amazing. I'm a realtor and needed a plumber asap in Roxborough and the George was awesome and came out the following day. What was great about their service was that he was able to pin point what the issue was as soon as told him the area of leaking. His partner went upstairs as we went thru the basement to check the drain. They were able to identify the leak upstairs without opening up the ceiling and having another plumber say they had fixed the leak. They knew exactly what they were doing and truthfully very impressed with the attention to detail. I've been in the business for 7 years and haven't had a go to plumber, that will change today. I will be calling George! Thank you!!

Drain State was very professional and fast. Over the weekend my water heater broke and was leaking. I called Monday evening and they were able to replace my water heater that night.
