Expert Water Heater Repair in Philadelphia, PA

When your water heater stops working in Philadelphia, the problem rarely fixes itself. Drain State Plumbing & Drain Cleaning handles water heater repair for tank and tankless units across the city. We diagnose no-hot-water calls, leaking tanks, pilot light failures, thermostat faults, sediment buildup, and failing T&P valves. Many Philadelphia homes are row homes with water heaters tucked into tight basement utility spaces. That layout can make access harder and let a small leak spread fast through a shared foundation wall. We inspect the unit, identify the root cause, and tell you clearly whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense. You get a straight answer before any work begins. If you notice rusty water, rumbling or popping sounds, or moisture near the base of the tank, call us before the damage spreads. Drain State Plumbing & Drain Cleaning serves Philadelphia, PA homeowners and property managers who need reliable, no-guesswork water heater repair.

Water Heater Repair FAQ

Common questions about water heater repair in Philadelphia, PA.

Yes, many Philadelphia water heaters can be repaired rather than replaced. We inspect the unit first and only recommend replacement when the repair cost or the unit's condition makes it the smarter choice.

The most common signs are no hot water, rusty or discolored water, rumbling or popping sounds from the tank, and moisture or pooling water near the base. Philadelphia row home basements can hide slow leaks, so check around the unit regularly.

That noise almost always points to sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank. A professional flush can often clear the buildup and restore normal heating performance.

A pilot light that won't stay lit usually means a faulty thermocouple or dirty pilot orifice, both of which are repairable. In older Philadelphia row homes, draft issues from aging flues can also cause pilot instability and should be checked at the same visit.

Yes, treat any water heater leak as urgent. In Philadelphia row homes, water from a leaking tank can move quickly through tight basement spaces and into a neighboring property's foundation.

Yes, we repair both gas and electric water heater units throughout Philadelphia. We diagnose the specific failed component on each type before recommending any repair.

In these days I appreciate a company that answers the phone and communicates when they're running behind schedule for an appt. George came out, assessed what needed to be done, reasonable price agreed upon, and returned same day with his team to repair two gas fuel line leaks. They put in the extra time to get it done properly, so my gas could be turned back on by PGW. Continued blessings. Thank you

This is the 2nd time i've hired them and I couldn't be happier. Both times for major issues. They are polite, respectful and do a wonderful job. I couldn't be happier. I will continue to hire them for all my plumbing issues.

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ George and his partner were amazing. I'm a realtor and needed a plumber asap in Roxborough and the George was awesome and came out the following day. What was great about their service was that he was able to pin point what the issue was as soon as told him the area of leaking. His partner went upstairs as we went thru the basement to check the drain. They were able to identify the leak upstairs without opening up the ceiling and having another plumber say they had fixed the leak. They knew exactly what they were doing and truthfully very impressed with the attention to detail. I've been in the business for 7 years and haven't had a go to plumber, that will change today. I will be calling George! Thank you!!

Drain State was very professional and fast. Over the weekend my water heater broke and was leaking. I called Monday evening and they were able to replace my water heater that night.
