Expert Sump Pump Replacement in Philadelphia, PA

Sump pump replacement is one of the most common plumbing calls we get from Philadelphia homeowners. The city's mix of older row homes, dense urban lots, and clay-heavy soil puts constant pressure on basement drainage systems. When heavy rain or snowmelt hits, a worn or undersized pump can't keep up, and water gets in fast. At Drain State Plumbing & Drain Cleaning, we assess your existing pit, check the discharge line routing, and install a properly sized replacement unit. We test the float switch, confirm the check valve is seated correctly, and verify the pump moves water out of the pit under load. Many Philadelphia row homes were built without modern moisture controls, so getting the right pump size matters. A failed pump can lead to mold, damaged flooring, and structural issues that cost far more than a replacement. If your pump is making noise, running constantly, or your pit has standing water, call us before the next storm hits.

Sump Pump Replacement FAQ

Your pump likely needs replacing if it runs constantly, makes grinding noises, or your pit has standing water after rain. Philadelphia's older row homes put heavy demand on sump systems, so age and repeated strain are common reasons for failure.

Yes, we replace sump pumps throughout Philadelphia, PA. We assess your pit, discharge line, and float switch before installing a properly sized unit.

A failed pump can allow groundwater to flood your basement, leading to mold growth and damaged flooring. In Philadelphia, where clay soil and seasonal storms increase groundwater pressure, a failing pump is a real risk.

Row homes in Philadelphia often have tight basement layouts and older pit configurations that affect which pump fits best. We inspect your existing setup before recommending a replacement unit.

Yes, we inspect and confirm proper discharge routing as part of every sump pump replacement in Philadelphia. A blocked or incorrectly routed discharge line can cause the new pump to fail just as quickly as the old one.

A battery backup is worth considering for Philadelphia homes that experience power outages during heavy storms. It keeps your pump running when the grid goes down and your basement is most at risk.

In these days I appreciate a company that answers the phone and communicates when they're running behind schedule for an appt. George came out, assessed what needed to be done, reasonable price agreed upon, and returned same day with his team to repair two gas fuel line leaks. They put in the extra time to get it done properly, so my gas could be turned back on by PGW. Continued blessings. Thank you

This is the 2nd time i've hired them and I couldn't be happier. Both times for major issues. They are polite, respectful and do a wonderful job. I couldn't be happier. I will continue to hire them for all my plumbing issues.

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ George and his partner were amazing. I'm a realtor and needed a plumber asap in Roxborough and the George was awesome and came out the following day. What was great about their service was that he was able to pin point what the issue was as soon as told him the area of leaking. His partner went upstairs as we went thru the basement to check the drain. They were able to identify the leak upstairs without opening up the ceiling and having another plumber say they had fixed the leak. They knew exactly what they were doing and truthfully very impressed with the attention to detail. I've been in the business for 7 years and haven't had a go to plumber, that will change today. I will be calling George! Thank you!!

Drain State was very professional and fast. Over the weekend my water heater broke and was leaking. I called Monday evening and they were able to replace my water heater that night.
